Designed to cover a five month period, this course provides all the background knowledge and information needed to enhance your practice as a massage therapist.  Learn how to use oils safely and effectively to benefit patients suffering from conditions such as stress, migraine and PMT.

The course involves eight days tuition and practical experience over the five months together with assignments and compilation of a portfolio.

Part 2 = Practice of Aromatherapy

Part 3 = Role of Aromatherapy in the treatment of stress

Part 4 = Case studies and revision

Part 5 = Written and practical examinations

ASSESSMENT:

·                 Students must complete the required number of hours of attendance, i.e. 4 weekends

·                  Each assignment requires a 65% grading to pass

·                 All assignments, including portfolio, must be completed

·                  65% must be achieved in the written examination and 75% in the practical examination

Examination is by continuous assessment with written and practical examinations at the end of the course. Students who fail to attain the required standard may be asked to attend further seminars until that standard is reached.  Initially, students work on one another but towards the end of the course members of the general public, known and approved of by the School, are brought in for students to evaluate and work on under supervision. Students also have a portfolio to complete with records of treatments they have conducted on friends. These are discussed with the students as part of their clinical experience.

A certificate in Aromatherapy is issued once the examining body is satisfied with a student's competence.

The successful candidate can use the letters Arom (MSM) after their name on completion of this course and apply for full membership of the NAMMT.
